There’s no doubting McLoughlin planning is going places. We are constantly evolving our systems and structures to ensure we don’t stand still and are at the cutting edge of best working practices.

Our culture is collaborative, client focused and friendly, we enjoy working together and support one another to get the very best results for our clients and gain the satisfaction of a job well done whilst having fun. We know that professional consultancy thrives on personal relationships, our team are encouraged to “be human”, taking the time to get to know our clients and truly understand their needs.

We have three core values that underpin our approach to work, integrity, innovation and intelligence.

Integrity, is about being able to look yourself in the mirror in the morning, knowing you’re giving clients the most honest appraisal of their chances of success and not running free and wild with their money.

Innovation is our shared enthusiasm to understand the complexities of the planning system and develop methodology to get results.

Intelligence, because we are a team of highly skilled and experienced consultants who constantly review planning policy and decisions to ensure we are fully up to date and able to advise clients with the most appropriate solutions.

That collaborative, client focused and friendly, culture encompasses a passion for developing our team, ensuring they never feel out of their depth but also challenged and given new experiences to develop their skills and experience. This is both in terms of technical but also soft skills. All our team are front and centre, nobody here leaves baby in the corner!

Some may view us as a “small planning consultancy”. We prefer to think of ourselves as a “boutique consultancy” and that is certainly reflected in the scope of clients and jobs we have. One home to over five hundred, schools, medical centres, farms, airports and commercial premises. Clients such as the National Trust, Hartpury University, Avant and some very wealthy and well-known private individuals.

Associate Director/Director

Recently we have launched a recruitment drive for senior planning consultants countrywide, however for this role we are looking for someone to be able to spend at least a couple of days a week in our Cheltenham office. This is because this individual will be fully involved in developing the Cheltenham team and also supporting our country wide consultants.

Our planners have laptops to enable flexible working and we all work from home on a Wednesday. We have a program of CPD sessions that we run via zoom on Wednesday afternoons, not only giving ample opportunities for development, but also connecting the team on a more relaxed basis wherever they are based.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter who will enjoy bringing in and winning new business and who has a demonstrable record of managing clients from initial contact through to project completion.

Being commercially astute and a great communicator, the successful candidate will need to be able to articulate how you would move the business forward and develop current and new clients.

The key skills we are looking for are:

  • A high level of planning knowledge and the ability to undertake a variety of projects across a diverse range of sectors.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial awareness, ability to identify and respond appropriately to new business opportunities and foster strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its application.

In return for your commitment and drive, we are able to offer a salary that is commensurate with your level of skills and experience. Our benefits package includes private medical insurance, a generous pension contribution and the option to join and EMI scheme. We want someone to help us drive our business forward and to be certain of how much they are valued.
