Experience

Russell is an experienced planner with over 15 years of industry experience in both the public and private sectors. He has an extensive background overseeing major and strategic projects on both brownfield and greenfield sites for residential, commercial and mixed use developments. He has a particular focus on residential planning in the South West as well as detailed knowledge of planning in London.

Russell began his career in local authority development management and spent over 5 years at LB Hackney working on major projects before transferring to the Mayor of London’s Planning Team where he worked on some of the most significant projects in the Capital. Since moving to the private sector as a planning consultant he worked his way up from associate to director level, moving to the South West around 5 years ago.

Projects

Promotion of various greenfield and green belt housing sites through various Local Plans across the County for both landowners and developers. Assembling project teams, formulating development visions for the site, preparing Local and Neighbourhood Plan representations and presenting evidence to Local Plan Examinations.

Working for both national, regional and local housebuilders on a corresponding range of planning and reserve matters applications for both open market and affordable housing. Using opportunities presented by housing land supply problems to realise development potential.

Working on very tall buildings including 50+ storey buildings, requiring detailed consideration of visual and environmental impacts.

Securing listed building consents for extensions and alterations to listed buildings.

Hobbies

Russell enjoys brewing his own beer, playing football, paddleboarding and snowboarding.
